Today is also the very last day of archery season. So, I do feel a little sad for Jer's sake because I know how much he loves archery now but spring will come and he can get back out there and go to bow shoots. I, myself, am a little excited to have life back to normal. I have been dealing with archery season since Oct. 3rd and have spent a lot of days/evenings here by myself with the kids feeling like a single parent. I'm worn out.....however, it's not the end of hunting season all together. No sir ree! Rifle season starts the Monday after Thanksgiving. Jer will probably hunt for two days then and then he has two more Saturdays. I hope he gets his deer because we could use the meat but this is not my favorite time of year.
Jer took me up to the UPS store to have my fingerprinting done for my Federal Background Check...the last piece of paper the school needs to officially hire me! It was a very simple process and now I just have to wait about two days and the results will be back. I need to get the paper with my number on it to the Superintendent's secretary and the job process will start!
We do not officially have the car yet. My Pap is still searching for a car. Like he thinks he has to check out every possible option before we go for it. He was also trying to get me to haggle my step father down in price, when the guy already dropped $1000 off the asking price, what Kelly Blue Book actually has it listed for, and he's not going to make a penny off of selling the car. He's getting the money out of it that he put in it to originally buy it and to put the parts on it. PERIOD. Then Pap told me to get him to lie about the amount I paid for it so my sales tax is lower. He cannot do that. Maybe if we were doing this privately but this is Hank's business. He can't lie to the state and get audited! I won't lie, I'm a bit annoyed. I realize I am asking to borrow his money but I am paying it back within two months and ultimately it's going to be my car that I have to drive and deal with until whenever we decide to replace it. I have to be comfortable with it and like it.
One thing I keep stressing is that I do not want a larger car. I am used to my smaller car. It's easy to park and gets great gas mileage. I don't want some Buick/Oldsmobile/Chrysler that some older couple had just because he thinks it will make me a great car. I already went down that road....my grandparents gave me their 1989 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight in 1998 for my graduation present. The car was fully loaded and yes, I was thankful to have transportation but I hated that car. We had it up until I purchased my Hyundai in 2003 from my Mom and I just kept saying I wanted something smaller and not as flashy and I did it...I went from one extreme to the other but I was so happy about it. Things were starting to go wrong with that car when we got rid of it but my family kept saying I was stupid to get rid of it. Everything was computerized (It actually had a small computer on the dash for you to track gas mileage and a million other things) and I was scared to death of having to replace something like that! If it helps the situation the car he's interested in checking the price out for me is one that my other grandparents had two of, one the year prior and one the same year and they hated the car. It didn't run right....So, I'm just waiting and hoping.
Am I being a brat or just practical here?
Pap did ask when I wanted to do this and I said like ASAP. I must have a car if I'm starting to work. Jer has had the company salescar to run back and forth to work for about three weeks now. We cannnot continue to do that. I told him it's been long enough. I also explained that when the snow flies, it's not a good car to be getting Jer to work at 7am when the roads aren't always the clearest and that they probably won't let him drive it anyway in those circumstances. He can't just leave the car here and take our truck, either because for one, I'm not really supposed to be driving it and two, Jer has to take it to work so if it's needed, it's there. The other thing is that car has either an alignment issue or something needs fixed in the front end because it's pulls to the left all of the time and....not that the 'Check Engine' light is on but after dealing with what I did with my car, um, that transmission isn't doing so great itself. I'm not saying it's going to break down next week or anything but it will at a point not to far in the future. Jer would rather not be in possession of it when it happens....
Enough of my whining...it's just everything seems to be right at my fingertips and I just want it to happen NOW. I feel like a kid the night before Christmas...lol
I finished up my 'Bathroom Rules' sign and hung it last night :)
And the birth announcement was completed yesterday.....I just need to get a frame and figure out how I'm putting the purple fabric around the announcement to 'frame' it. I picked that fat quarter because it's pastel, so it fits in on what they're putting in the baby's room but it's also kind of not just babyish, so they could use it for years....
Have a great day :)

I so want the pattern for the bathroom rules! Yours came out awesome looking. Do you stain after stitching? Looks like after, but I am new to staining.
Martino? Im a Martino (maiden)....seems kind of strange I guess! Ive actually met more Martinos through blogging and facebook than I knew were "out" there:)
Leslie the stitcheries came out great!
As far as the car deal I understand, I too would not want some big car to drive!! Maybe you could somehow get your pap to realize that your FIL would certainly not sell you a car that would not be good for you as you are related!!:0) Just another avenue to think about, but you know older people are very set in the way they think and its hard to get them to change it!! Good luck I hope you get it all finally you and your family deserve these breaks!! Have a great time today!!LOL
Ha Ha -- My family has only had one thanksgiving where someone did not punch someone. We have endured 4 hunting seasons this year__ then I have only had 3 weeks between that until today, when cow elk hunt started. yay....mostly sarcastic. All of the hunts we have gone together as a family, because all of us can get tags. we have not gotten anything at all. My husband and boys went out today for the elk hunt( which ends January 17)--I really hope they get something. ha ha. So my daughter and I get to stay home and get our martha on... ha ha.
I don't think you are being a brat but it's hard when someone thinks they are "helping" you. Be patient and honest, don't settle if you aren't happy...you will be the one driving. :)
Just remember there are worse things Jer could be doing than spending his time hunting.
Your stitcheries look great, as always!
Glad things are beginning to look up for you and your family.
Hugs,
marn

Love the stitcheries! And I hope the gathering goes well. And good luck with the car too. :)
Your stitcheries turned out great.
I have yet to try my hand at a stitchery. I figured it would be a good winter craft project to work on.
Can you please let me know your tips for staining and coloring that you used on the bathroom rules stitchery. Thanks, Tasha
Great ideas!
