The kids' conferences went very well yesterday. Shane is staying right on level and has progressed with a lot of things already in the 9 weeks into the year. His teacher loves his creativeness and says he's a great kid. They all miss him at school :) We heard pretty much the same about Aften. Mrs. K told Jer how she loves me and how his daughter is such an angel at school. (I told him she was anyway but I think he just couldn't believe it! LOL We told Mrs. K how she's not always so sweet at home and she just said that it's proof we're raising her well because she's comfortable at home but knows to behave out in public :)). The real proof is in her work habits and skills part of her report card...all A's for Advanced for her age :) She's doing great in all subjects. Her reading most impressed us. They started her in Title I for her reading at the beginning of the year. She needed the one on one time to help her along. Aften started reading at a level 3 and this week she's on a level 12! That's how much progress she's made in 9 weeks! The teacher and her reading teacher are very impressed with her work and said by Christmas, she will be finished with the program.
My Pap asked me about helping him out with some cleaning. He offered to pay me if I came down once every two weeks and helped him a bit. He does have a pretty large house for just. one person and he said he really just needs a woman's touch around the house. I think he's also lonely. I do feel bad for him. It wouldn't hurt to help him out and spend some time with him and he'll also pay me for it so I guess I could get my car loan paid off faster....
I'll leave you with some pretty pictures of the sky last night as we were leaving my Pap's :)
This one I took from further out the lane. You can just see the top of the neighbor's barn and silo.....and some of the orbs from the dust particles from the lane...lol
Same view, just a bit more to the right.
Jeremy is hunting today. Day #2 of his 3 day vacation...Archery ends on Saturday. I know he's sad but I'm not. It's been a long couple of weeks! We have a week off and then deer season starts the Monday after Thanksgiving. I cannot believe it's that time already!
Jeremy with his turkey that he shot last Saturday, Nov. 7th
Later today Jer will come home for lunch and we're hoping to go check out a car. My step father offered us this car right after my transmission went but we wanted to shop around. We wanted something a little newer and with less miles than my current car but it's just slim pickings out there thanks to Cash for Clunkers program. Everything that fits in that range right now is too high priced for us. We don't want a second car payment right now so we can't just go for it. My step father has a 98 Saturn that he's willing to drop the price on for us. It's a four-door, fully loaded, raisin colored...he just put new tires/brakes/rotors on it. It would make it really affordable for us and well, instead of thinking about getting a newer car that we would have for many years, we're thinking that if we buy this and have it for a year, two years would be great because Jer's truck will be paid off...it's better than no car. I'm tired of having to run all over the county to make my hubby happy so I have a vehicle. I'm tired of listening to Jer whine about how much he misses his truck (His boss said the other day, "Hey, Jeremy, your wife drives a very nice truck. Does she let you drive it?" To which Jer replied, "Once in awhile..." lol)
Alrighty, I'm turning the channel...enough of Sponge Bob...propping my feet up and stitching away :)
Have a great day :)

Hi Leslie, so glad you got Shane back to school. What rotten thing to happen to him at his age! Sounds like both of them are doing great in school. I got good reports on Jacob too, other than he talks too much in class! Figures. Your sunset pics are beautiful. Hope you get your car situation worked out. Nothing worse than having to work around one car! Have a good day and happy stitchin!

Glad to hear Shane is doing well. Sounds like you are both raising very smart children. Good Job!!
Well enjoy your day, janie
So happy that things are calming down for you and your family. It's good to hear that Shane is back in school. I am so glad he is doing okay. That was very scary for you, I'm sure.
I remember when my hubby used to go hunting. Not good! It took up a major part of our lives.
The sunset at your Pap's is gorgeous! We are so blessed with God's little gifts.
Sounds like the kids are doing exceptionally well in school. That's great!
Take care, Leslie.
Friends,
Susannah
Those are some wonderful sunset views! Glad your kids are doing well, my son turns 18 next month and is joining the army after graduation, I sometimes wish I could go back in time just a few years:)
Leslie, I am so glad Shane is doing so well. Having your appendix out is no fun...Had mine out at age 13. It is so important not to pick up those heavy books...Can they provide one to keep in school for him and you keep the one at home so it doesn't have to go back and forth???
I love reading your blog and your honesty...
On the 1998 saturn...My duaghter has one...Hers is pearl white 4 doors and loaded..She bought hers from her friend...I know her dad took good care of it and he made sure everything was good to go for Kim...It's a good car and she has had it for 2 years now...She plans on keeping it for another 2 years. She drives it back and forth from college to home...Good car.. you see alot of them on the road and man are they good with driving in snow...Lisa
have a great day catching up and stitching..:)
Happy to hear Shane is recovering well! It's not so fun when they are ill..for them and us!
My Mom used to call us, House Devils, Street Angels because we would act up at home but be good outside (we knew better ;))
I know it's tough because you have one vehicle but hunting season doesn't last forever even tho it feels like that. I have been a hunting widow for the past month..he goes from Sunday to Thurs. Plus, he leaves me his truck which is rotting away and I can't go far! ;) I honestly don't mind tho as it's nearing the end and he is happy!!
Happy Stitching!!
Hi Leslie, So glad to hear Shane felt good enough to go to school. I hope before soon, you won't even know what he went through!!
Gorgeous photo's - just amazing!!
I hope you enjoyed some ME time today!!
Leslie,
So glad Shane is better. I know you enjoyed your time alone today. I guess a car of any kind is better than none. I hope it all works out for you!
